Where are we now?
Current Status...
Instead of an educational sound bite, today I'll share an update as to where things stand.
First: How is Scott doing?
Last week Scott shared with leadership where he teaches that he will not return after the holiday break. He simply doesn't have the energy. Hopefully this will give him the chance to rest and take care of himself to feel better overall instead of pushing himself so hard every day.
Second: Do we have any potential donors?
Yes and no. There are several wonderful people at different stages of assessment. These include 1) friends from the neighborhood; 2) friends from childhood; 3) friends from church; 4) friends from his work; 5) friends from my work.
We aren't done yet.
We've also had willing donors rejected for history of cancer (you must be 5 years cancer-free), age (you must be under 70 regardless of physical condition), and a couple of other health-history related items.
According to the transplant coordinator, we need 5 willing donors, as about 1/2 get rejected through the course of evaluation and many change their minds during the process.
We still need you to consider donation.
Note: If you are one of the wonderful people who have submitted assessment forms, and it's been over a week and you haven't heard from OSU, please let me know. I have a human's email address where you can follow-up and/or re-send the form.
Third: What is the status of my application?
I have been accepted into the exchange network! My assessment and lab work were accepted. Now if we find compatible matches, I will go through additional testing.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us by sharing posts, praying, asking questions, giving hugs, and so many other ways. It means the world to us.
